Halloween 2012

For the past 12 or 13 years, Mark has taken the day off work to decorate his sister's house and surprise the nephews when they came home from school. This year was different. He took the day off work to decorate OUR house. As I am trying to save my annual leave for next spring, I went to work and was excited to come home and see the transformation. As always, he did a great job :)


Here is an overview of the front yard...

This was the Mad Scientist and his experimental machines.

The machine on the left creates an electric current between two wires. Then there is a brain machine with an eyeball moving around as you hear a voice calling out "Let me out of here."

The Mad Scientist's hands are on backwards and his head moved back and forth.

Mark took his 1938 Dodge Coupe for a drive from his parent's garage to our home. From there, it became one of the highlights of the night... complete with the moving legs sticking out from under the car. Most of the young ones in the neighborhood were worried about those legs and asked their parents to help the person under the car.

To add to the fun, Mark added a couple of ghosts inside of the car with a "PEOPLE BUSTERS" logo :)

He also included the skeletons and tombstones that he made for his nephews several years ago...

Of course, the yard would not have been complete without a witch and some full-sized skeletons.

When it became dark, the ghosts really stood out with an eerie glow.

Mark had strategically placed lights in the car to shine on them.

This year was the warmest Halloween on record, so we had many trick or treaters throughout the night. We spent most of the evening outside talking with those who stopped to check out Mark's creation. This was a great opportunity to talk with neighbors and get to know some of them a little bit better. It was a fun and successful evening!
