I found out that a coworker's wife passed away unexpectedly yesterday. She has been going to the doctor's office for the last week or two as something hasn't been right. She had a follow-up appointment today that she obviously didn't make it to. The speculation is that she had a heart attack, but nothing is confirmed at this time.
They have three kids - two teenagers and one younger child. It was his step-daughter, her daughter, who found her mom when she came home from school. To make things worse, this girl's biological dad passed away years ago and she is the one who found her dad. At this time, it looks like the biological grandparents are willing to let the girl stay with my coworker and the other two kids.
My heart truly breaks for this family.
