Our neighborhood has some fun traditions for the 4th of July that we were able to participate in.
We woke up early in the morning to attend the neighborhood flag ceremony and breakfast held at our ward building. It was difficult waking up at 6:30 a.m. on a day off work, but Mark had promised to say the blessing on the food. We met a few new people in the ward... and were invited to join the neighbors to watch the community fireworks from the ward house.
During the day, we were busy unpacking, moving some boxes, running some errands, and trying to stay cool. Our living room still has boxes in it, but we can see some carpet which is making us happy!
Later, we joined our neighbors to watch the fireworks. One neighbor who lives a few doors down shared their popcorn and trifle dessert with us. Then, the Bishop was sharing a big container of Red Vines with everyone; including some people who wandered upon the spot and joined us. It was a fun evening... a fun new tradition to incorporate into our lives.
